Freelance Writing, Blogging and Affiliate Marketing: Ways to Make Extra Cash

So you love to write? Did you know that you can actually make some extra cash from freelance writing on topics you love? There are many different ways to grow your income by writing online! Blogging, Affiliate marketing, Freelance writing and more!

If you enjoy and are good at writing articles, it can be a great way to make some money on the side.  There are many online outlets where you can write for some income, but there are decisions you would have to make as well.  One can make money blogging, being an affiliate writer, freelance writing, writing e-books and the list goes on. There are all some examples of ways to make an extra income online by writing.

Freelance writing is one of the most popular ways to write articles and earn some extra cash.  There are many sites that pay up front, but also sites that pay a residual income.  Residual income is income that is paid to you over time.  It accrues by pageviews and/or comments.  Each site is different in the way that they pay residuals.  Which way is better?  It all depends on personal preference.

Writing articles for sites that pay up front is an option that is usually preferred by writers.  However, there are some disadvantages of that option.  Most sites that pay up front have a system that posts various topics from clients.  They are categorized and put out there for writers to fish through to find what they want to write.  This may not always be the best option for the simple fact that some of the topics may not interest the writer, but something that they would have to do some research on to write.  This is not always the case as there are some sites that pay up front for original articles.

The advantage to residual income would be the income possibilities years down the road.  When a writer first publishes an article on a site that pays residual income, the article may not do too well.  This is completely normal.  It can take a few weeks, months or even a year for the article to start performing well.  That fact is due to Google needing to index the site or article into their searches.  Once that happens, the article can move up in the searches when it's progress grows.  This can mean that your article can still make money and grow in income even 3 or 4 years down the line.

Of course, most writers take advantage of both of the options.  Amature freelance writers do try to write for as many sites as they can to get the most up front and residual income.  It is smart to have all options available to you and to utilize any and every option that you possibly can as a writer that is just beginning.  It's important to build your article base and your portfolio for future opportunities and clients.

There are also sites in which you have to bid for freelancing jobs.  These sites are difficult since they are pure competition.  Writers bid against each other for the higher paying freelance writing jobs and the client gets to choose who they feel is fit for the job.  Articles on these sites are usually pretty high paying and the money is kept in escrow until the article is published and approved by the client.  Freelancing sites such as this are great too, but I would say that they are for the more intermediate and advanced writers.  One should really have a good base of articles before bidding for freelancing jobs.

Blogging and Sponsored blogging go hand in hand.  There are those who make good money by monetizing their blogs.  They may use Google Adsense, Adwords, they may sell Ad Spaces on their sites and they may write sponsored posts.  Sponsored posts are just that, posts sponsored and paid for by a company that wants the advertisement and publicity.  There are sites specifically made for posting sponsored posts and the sites are good paying as well!  Writers can choose which blog posts they want to write and they can sort through them by price.  Once the advertiser approves the writers post, they get paid the fee that the client is willing to pay.  Bloggers do have to start small writing for just a few dollars, but after a while as your skills grow, the pay will as well.

Affiliate Writing/Marketing is similar to blogging as you would write a post.  Affiliate writers sign up with companies that offer an affiliate program and they advertise the company that they are signed with.  These companies will pay per click, per impression or per purchase.  It is important to read the rules and select the option that you best prefer.  Some affiliates offer all the options and some do not.  The two best options are Pay Per Click and Pay Per Impression.

But how can you write good topics?

This is where some really get confused.  The internet is full of topics already written, right? Why would someone want to read your article over another like article?  If someone wants an answer, they will read many different articles looking for information that may be different.  Make sure you skim through the articles of the topic you want to write and note the differences in each.  Is there something else you think you can add to their ideas?  Then write the article with your own twist!

Definitely pick articles that are going to be in demand.  Write about tax season in September, write about Christmas present ideas in July, Write about Valentines Day ideas in November.  Anticipate the season or time you want the article to be popular and write it ahead of time.  Chances are that Google will index your article within the next few months and the views will come to you when the searching is done.

Use keyword tools (Such as the Google Keyword Tool) to get some SEO keyword ideas.  SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.  They are unique keywords that the search engine will pick up when it indexes your site.  When someone searches for your keyword, your article or website will show!  That is how you get the views.

Just remember that freelancing of any kind is not a "get rich quick" scheme.  It is a way to build your skills and earn some extra cash while you are waiting for your big break.  While not all writers get that big break, higher paying jobs will come to you if you work at your craft.

There are different writing methods use to be able to developed a good paragraph. These are the use of the various types of paragraph developments. The most frequently methods use include Definition, Classification, Comparison and Contrast, Process Description, Cause and Effect and Narration.

The idea in the paragraph can be expanded through the use of Definition. In here, the writer can be able to explain the meaning of an idea or a concept. It could be done by showing the details, describing, giving examples or analyzing using symbols and more.

The next one is through the use of Classification method. Classification method can be done if you are going to breakdown information into smaller parts, in simplifying a concept or in explaining something such as a series of things.

The next methodology is the Description of Process. It is usually done in describing a series of connected actions in chronological manner. The process of description might be in the form of natural, mechanical or historical processes. Like the other methods, it can also be use to expand the idea in the paragraph.

Another method is through Comparison and Contrast. The writer can use comparison if he/she wants to show some similarities with the given ideas. On the other hand, the writer can use contrast if he/she wants to point out differences in ideas. It is also possible to use the combination of both comparison and contrast in establishing both the similarities and differences of ideas in the given paragraph.

The next is the use of Cause and Effect. Cause and effect method can be used to expand the idea in the paragraph by establishing or explaining what happened as a result of something. In here, the writer can use signal words such as the words; because, cause, due to, for the reason and other words for the cause. The signal words for the cause are the words; as a result, consequently, in effect, therefore, thus and more.

The next one is through the use of Narration. In here, the writer could expand the concept of an idea in the paragraph by arranging the ideas in order; in chronological, or in place, or in the level of importance telling what happened first and what will be in the next.

For chronological or time order, the write can use the words that tell time such as; such as first, second then, after, later and more.

For place order, the writer can use the words that locate, such words like; below, beneath, behind, behind, near, and more.

For the order of importance, the writer can use the words that judge importance, such words like; next, last, must, greatest, in the first place and more.

The Different Classification of Sentences

There are different classifications of sentences. They are classified according to purpose, according to syntax or structure, according to form and according to completeness.

There are different classifications of sentences. They are classified according to purpose, according to syntax or structure, according to form and according to completeness.

Sentences are classified according to purpose. They are further classified into declarative sentence, interrogative sentence, imperative sentence and exclamatory sentence.

The purpose of the declarative sentence is to focus the reader’s attention. It invites the reader further to consider the assertion made by the predicate about it.

The purpose of the interrogative sentence is to provide assertion with regards to the concept that is indicated by the questions. With this the reader will be directly involve with the development of ideas through asking the reader to phrase the statement.

The purpose of the imperative sentence is to show the desire of the writer with regards to the topics as well as to the actions that is being indicated. Imperative sentence involves the reader directly through addressing him or her and asking for a response.

The purpose of the exclamatory sentence is to show a sudden or strong feeling about something. In exclamatory sentence, there may be a thought, emotion or sensation behind. It is used to express judgment, sensation and to express relieve of an internal pressure and the like.

Sentences are classified according to syntax or structure. These classifications are in the form of simple sentence, compound sentence, complex sentence and compound-complex sentence.

The sentence is considered as a simple sentence if it contains only a single independent thought or clause. In this kind of sentence, the subject, the verb and the complement maybe compounded or either modified by a single word or phrase.

The sentence is considered as a complex sentence when it contains two or more independent clause. The compound sentence shows two distinct ideas. Each of these sentences is important and they are bought to be stated in an independent predication.

The sentence is considered as a compound-complex sentence if the sentence contains two or more independent clauses and contains at least one dependent clause. This kind of sentence combines the effects of the compound sentence. It equates and links two distinct ideas with the complex sentence, thus, subordinating loose one predication to another.

Sentences are classified according to their form. With this they are further classified into periodic sentence, loose or cumulative sentence and balance sentence.

The periodic sentence is a form of sentence where the core idea or the main thought is not completed until the final word.

The loose or cumulative sentence is a form of sentence wherein the subject and the verb are stated early and whatever additional modifier qualifications or exemptions are just added.

In the balance sentence, the structure and the phrasing of the second clause is considered as repetition of the first clause. This sentence is just one sentence possessing two balance elements.

Sentences are also classified according to their completeness. With this they are further classified into full sentence and incomplete sentence.

A sentence is considered as a full sentence when it is complete grammatically. It should also contain an expressed subject and a predicate, and it should not be introduced by a subordinating word. Introduction by a subordinating word is only allowed when the subordinating word belongs to a dependent clause.

A sentence is considered as an incomplete sentence when it is not complete although the context in which the center appears communicates a clear idea.

Paragraphs: Unity, Coherence, and Emphasis

A good paragraph has the characteristics of unity, coherence and emphasis. In unity a paragraph must be unified on its structure. In coherence a paragraph must establish continuity within or towards the other paragraph

A good paragraph has the characteristics of unity, coherence and emphasis. In unity a paragraph must be unified on its structure. In coherence a paragraph must establish continuity within or towards the other paragraph. In emphasis the idea within the paragraph should be given importance and made to stand.

Unity

A paragraph is a unit of composition that established oneness because it develops a central and main idea on its structure. The entire paragraph must be unified on its structure and all the sentences within the paragraph should focus on the topic sentence.

There are several violations in which the unity of the paragraph is lost. One of these is by the inclusion of the second central idea which divides the idea of the entire paragraph. Another violation is the inclusion of one or more sentences containing details that are not really related to the paragraph’s main ideas. There are also cases in which there is no central idea that was being established within the paragraph resulting to the disunity of sentences in the paragraph composition.

Coherence

Coherence is considered as the continuity between as well as within the paragraph. It is very important to arrange and link the sentences between the paragraphs to be able to make the readers follow the thought or the idea that want to be implied.

There are several logical orders in which coherence can be established. These logical orders are the spatial orders, deductive order and inductive order. Chronological order is done in such ways like narrating experiences, summarizing the steps in the process and explaining events and movements. Spatial order can be established through the arrangement of visual details in some consistent sequences such as from left to right, east to west, near or distant and vice versa. Deductive order is done by establishing a general statement moving to the more particular details that explain the general statement itself. Inductive order is done by starting the statement with more particular detail going to and supporting the general statement.

Coherence can also be established through the use of some special devices. These transitional devices are the transitional keywords; the reference of pronoun, the repetition of keywords and the use of the parallel structure. The transitional words and phrases serve as indicators of the different relationships that need to be connected to be able to establish coherence in the paragraph. The reference of pronoun is a device used to avoid needles repetition in the paragraph. The repetition of keywords is used in such a way that the keywords that are related to the central idea in order to establish coherence. The parallel structure is used to call attention to similar idea in the paragraph.

Emphasis

Emphasis is the principle of the paragraph composition in which the important ideas are made to stand. In here it is very important that the main points of the writer should be evident inside the paragraph.

Having an emphasis can be achieved by using some devices such as the use of emphasis by proportion, emphasis by pause and emphasis by position. In the emphasis by proportion, the subordinate ideas should be given less substance while ideas which have greater importance should be given more substance. In the emphasis by pause, the emphasis is established by making chapter divisions, paragraph breaks as well as mark of punctuation. In the emphasis by position, the beginning and end of the paragraph are considered as crucial points where emphasis should be placed, emphasis are usually positioned in these places

Exposition, Description, Narration and Argumentation: The Different Types of Composition

Composition writing is a process to take. One of the first things to consider is to determine what type of composition to be used.

Composition writing is a process to take. One of the first things to consider is to determine what type of composition to be used.

When you are going to write, you usually have a central purpose or central idea in communicating your readers. You also aim to produce some effects to the readers. These purpose or ends is the one that determines the type of discourse that you are going to use in writing a composition.

The types of discourse are Exposition, Description, Narration and Argumentation. Each of these discourses differs from one another in their style and end purpose.

The Exposition type of discourse explain something to your readers, it make the ideas in the composition clear to them. Further, exposition analyzes a character or a situation. It also defines a term, gives directions and makes something clear to the one that presumably does not understand something. The examples of the exposition are those compositions that we can read from most of the magazine articles, editorials and textbooks.

The Description type of discourse tries to make the readers realize how you felt in certain circumstances. It makes your reader to see or to hear something like what you yourself heard or saw. Through this type of discourse, you make your readers to have a quality of direct experience. This type of discourse describes what the writer saw or experience.

The Narration type of discourse tells your readers about a certain event. It informed them what happened and how it happened. It further gives your readers with the impression of the particular event. Narration type of discourse gives your readers the sense of witnessing a certain situation. It narrates the story or a certain events to the readers.

The Argumentation type of discourse makes your readers change their mind, their points of views, their attitudes or their feelings. This type of discourse usually makes an appeal to the reader’s logical capability or to their reasoning capability. Furthermore, the argumentation type of discourse appeals to your reader’s emotions. One of the key factors here is the ability of the writer to persuade his or her readers with regards to the matter that is being discussed.

Using different types of discourse really depend upon the writer’s objectives. The writer might use exposition, description, narration and argumentation depending upon his end purpose. The writer must define his or her objectives accordingly to use the proper form of discourse.

Technical Writing Basics: Using the Active Voice

A quick guide to technical writing. An easy explaination of Active voice VS Passive voice and when to use them.

This article is not intended to replace a full Technical Writing course. It is offered as a quick and dirty guide outlining the basic techniques and styles used within the technical writing field. This guide is for people who do not normally write technical documents.

For clarity and ease of use I am breaking this information into 5 articles that cover the basic techniques used in Technical Writing including:

Knowing Your Audience

Top Down Structure

Writing Clear Sentences

Being Concise

Using the Active Voice

If you have ever had to write a large document using Word, you have probably seen the green underlines and been told "Passive voice, consider revising". Thanks for nothing Word. You are not told what passive voice is nor how to fix it by word but not to worry, this article will help set you straight.

Why is Active Voice So Important?

Technical writing is 85% active voice. The other 15% of the writing is passive voice and is used when describing order of operations. With such a high percentage of technical writing being in the active voice, it is important to be able to identify both the active and the passive voice.

The active voice offers the following advantages to the technical writer:

Emphasizes the person or thing performing the action

Allows the reader to grasp the main idea easily

Employs simple sentence structure

Reduces word count by 10-15%

What is Active Voice?

Don't run for the hills just yet, I'm not going to bombard you with long complicated explanations. As mentioned in previous articles, there are plenty of great websites dedicated to grammar. I'm interested in giving you the simplest explanation so you can get busy writing technical documents.

The easiest way to remember Active Voice is that the "Doer" is the subject of the sentence. For example:

Jill (Subject) threw the ball (Object).

The pilot (Subject) landed the plane (Object).

In both examples, Jill and the pilot are the subjects and they are performing the action. The subject is also near the beginning of the sentence. There are cases when the subject is not near the beginning but as I mentioned previously, I am going to keep this simple.

What is Passive Voice?

The passive voice is when the focus of the sentence is on the object, not the subject. In other words the focus is on what is receiving the action, not what is performing the action.

The ball (Object) was thrown by Jill (Subject)

The plane (Object) was landed by the pilot (Subject).

In both examples, the objects, the ball and the plane are the focus of the sentence and the subjects, the doers of the action, are at the end of the sentence.

Another way to tell if the sentence is in the passive voice is the use of the verb "To Be" and a past tense verb. The "To Be" verb (am, are, is, was, were, be, being) plus the past tense verb is a clear indication of passive voice.

The ball WAS (To Be verb) THROWN (past tense of throw) by Jill.

The plane WAS (To Be verb) LANDED (past tense of land) by the pilot.

The passive voice should be used when it is your intention to place the focus on the object such as when describing the order of operations. For example:

First the fuel is filtered by a fuel skid. Next, the fuel is transferred by a pump to a holding tank. Finally the fuel will be loaded into a tanker truck.

Converting Passive Voice to Active Voice

Once you have identified a sentence as using the passive voice, you have to rewrite the sentence using the active voice.

To covert from passive voice to active voice:

Remove the To Be verb.

Identify the Subject (doer of the action).

Move the subject to the beginning of the sentence.

For example:

The plane crash was (To Be) caused by the pilot.(Subject)

The pilot caused the plane crash.

The fuel was (To Be) filtered by the fuel skid.(Subject)

The fuel skid filtered the fuel.

The fact that fuel had been leaking from the under ground tank was (To Be) revealed by the study. (Subject)

The study revealed fuel leaked from the underground tanks.

Conclusion

Remember there is a place for passive voice in technical writing but the majority of your work should be action based and use the active voice.

Technical Writing Basics: Top Down Structure

How to write technical documents. A basic outline of styles and technics used in technical writing. A beginner's guide.

This article is not intended to replace a full Technical Writing course. It is offered as a quick and dirty guide outlining the basic techniques and styles used within the technical writing field for people who do not normally write technical documents.

For clarity and ease of use I am breaking this information into 5 articles that cover the basic techniques used in Technical Writing including:

Knowing Your Audience

Top Down Structure

• Writing Clear Sentences

• Being Concise

• Using the Active Voice

In the first article I discussed Knowing your Audience. The techniques a technical writer should use before starting the writing process. So now you know who you are writing for and the purpose of the document. You're sitting in front of your computer, ready to start writing, but there is one more technique you should know before you start:

Top Down Structure

Top down structure simply means putting the main point first. After the main point comes the supporting information. This technique is not unique to technical writing; it is also used in newspaper articles and in most essay writing. Top down structure can be applied to all levels of writing from the document as a whole right down to individual sentences.

Visualize a triangle with one point at the top. The point of the triangle represents the main point; small ,precise, to the point. If you move towards the bottom of the triangle the base gets wider. This represents supporting information and increasing details. The more the user reads, the more information they will receive.

In example one, top down structure has NOT been used. How much of the paragraph must the user read before they find the purpose of the Test Chamber?

The Test Chamber is located in a large test room. The Test Chamber can reproduce pressures between 0.2 and 1 bar (abs) and temperatures between minus 20°C to plus 80°C. The Test Chamber is used to control air pressure and temperature around the widget to simulate altitude conditions. The temperature of the test room can be controlled between minus 20°C and plus 35°C.

Example two is the same paragraph with the top down structure applied:

The Test Chamber is used to control air pressure and temperature around the widget to simulate altitude conditions. The Test Chamber can reproduce pressures between 0.2 and 1 bar (abs) and temperatures between minus 20°C to plus 80°C. The Test Chamber is located in a large test room. The temperature of the test room can be controlled between minus 20°C and plus 35°C.

There are two reasons to use the top down structure in technical writing.

1) Easy to Navigate:

By having the main point first, the user can quickly scan a section of information and determine if this is the information they need. They do not need to read four or five sentences before they get to the heart of the matter. If they are scanning large sections of a document, the four or five sentences can add up quickly. In the given example, a quick scan would tell the reader that the paragraph is about the Test Chamber. If they are not looking for that information they stop reading after the first sentence and move on.

2) Reader Only Reads What they Need

The reader gets to the main point right away and can stop reading once they have the information they need. Again, most people do not read technical documents for fun. In the example, if the user simply needed to know what the test chamber was for, they can stop after the first sentence. If they needed to know the temperature or pressure ranges of the chamber, they must read further. If they also need to know where the test chamber is located they will read the entire paragraph.

Top down structure is a very simple principle but it is vital for technical writing. Without this structure, the end user would be forced to read entire technical documents to find the information they need. The reality is that no one is willing to do that. Your document might have the best information ever written about a particular subject but if it isn’t easy to navigate or if the information is buried under loads of other information, no one will read the manual.

If no one is going to read the manual, there is no point in writing the manual.

The third technical writing basics article will cover the techniques used in Writing Clear Sentences.

How to Get a Press Pass for Bloggers

This article teaches bloggers how to get a press release so that they can cover news worthy events. This shows you how to get a press release online quickly and easily.

In the past, press passes were only for established, employed journalist and it was not given to those who wrote blogs. However, this has now changed, since growth of the Internet also included those who provided news through blogs and newsletters, bloggers have been able to obtain press passes that allow them to also get into concerts, events and sporting contests. They are now able to get the same privileges as journalist, as they are now recognized as serious writers.

There are several places that a blogger can go in order to obtain a press pass and write about events that are happening first-hand. For a blogger to get a press pass they must either be a staff writer for a company that gives them one or they must pay for the privilege to get one. Many state and law enforcement agencies provide people with press passes but they can be exceptionally hard to get, especially as many will not accept that a blogger can also be a professional journalist.

Nowadays, there are some companies that offer bloggers a chance to do real journalistic pieces by giving them an opportunity to purchase a press pass. Here are a few companies that do:

     • Cable Muse: This Company allows freelance writers and photographers to apply for membership with the company and to obtain a press pass that includes photo identification and they also will verify that you have the credentials to cover the story. They also provide you with a letter of introduction that you can give to the event coordinators as well as listing you on their site as a staff writer after you have written two consecutive articles for the cable muse website. To receive these benefits you will only need to pay the $65.00 per year membership fee.

     • Global Media Magazine: This Company also offers press credentials with verification for one year for a low fee of 79.95 which allows you to get a press pass to cover pertinent news.

     • International Press Association: This Company is usually for travel journalist and it offers work assignments for the members of the company. However, this company is very expensive as you will pay approximately $200-$250 per year to get your press pass.

     • International Federation of New Media: This Company helps bloggers to get a recognized press pass as well as membership in their company like so many professionals who use this company for press credentials. This company is also expensive as you will pay the one-time fee of $81 and a yearly fee of $58 to get started; however once you have gotten started you will only pay the low fee of $58 for each additional year.

While having a press pass can mean the difference of you writing stories from research or getting the story first hand, there is no guarantee that any press pass will get you into any event or show, it is usually the criteria of the place or person who is running the event. However do not get discouraged, by building a name for yourself and having high quality articles that you can show the event planners and managers, you will be able to get in and write that great story you always wanted to write.

Common Methods Use in Paragraph Development

The good writing should get its thought to the readers. Thought or ideas in writing should be presented in such a way that it may be fully understood. This may be done through the use of some common methods in paragraph development.

The good writer should get its thought to the readers. Thought or ideas in writing should be presented in such a way that it may be fully understood. This may be done through the use of some common methods in paragraph development.

The common methods in paragraph development are; development by specific details, development by comparison and contrast, development by cause and effect, development by definition and development by example.

In the development by comparison and contrast, the structures are so similar that readers can consider the structure as together. The most common form of comparison is analogy where the two things are being relate. In here, the writer can use comparison if the writer wants to emphasize the similarities of two or more things. On the other hand, he or she can use the contrast if he or she wants to emphasize the differences of two or more things.

The development by specific details is considered as one of the most common, simple and effective way of paragraph development. It makes the entire paragraph more explicit in meaning and more interesting as it uses specific details as well as supporting ideas. In here, the writer should give emphasis on the specific orders of things and sequence of events, it is also important to arrange the ideas in order which may be in the chronological form, in time or in the level of importance.

The development using the cause and effect is usually used to explain how something came to be from its cause to its effect or vice versa. This type of development may include a chain of reasoning that will eventually find a cause leading to the prediction of other effects. Here, the writer will tell the readers what will happen next as a result of the action or actions that was taken.

The development by definition usually involves with the implication of thought that is more meaningful than the definition in the dictionary. Through the use of this method, the writer can be able to explain the concept or the idea’s meaning. Giving or showing the details, describing, giving examples as well as analyzing symbols are examples of definition methods.

The paragraph development by examples is usually used to be able to illustrate with the generality of one extended example instead of illustrating the series of details. Through the use of development by examples, the clarity in the paragraph could be developed.

What Does It Mean to Spin an Article?

What is spinning an article? How does one get an article spin ready before submitting it to an article spinner? Learn about what it means to create a spun article.

You may have seen it mentioned here and there that some online articles have been spun, or that article writers put their articles through an article spinner, but what does it mean to spin an article?

People might have observed it is revealed in some places that a number of pieces of writing on the Internet are spun articles, or that article authors have put their pieces of writing through an online article spinner, but how does one spin an article?

Do you notice anything similar in the above two paragraphs? The first paragraph was spun manually, and the result was the second paragraph. It can take quite a bit of time spinning a piece of writing manually: it’s basically a rewrite of a piece of writing – that results in a new piece of writing that says the same as before, except it has different words or phrases, or sometimes even a different order of sentences.

Some freelance job site clients require the freelance workers to spin articles for them. The client may simply be requesting a single rewrite and editing of an article, or may want the freelance worker to spin one article and then submit many new spun articles, all originating from just that one article.

Before submitting a piece of writing to an article spinner, the person has to prepare one article, making it spin ready.

Using the above sentence as an example, a spin ready piece of writing could look like this:

{Before|Prior to} {submitting a piece of writing to an article spinner|submitting an article to an article spinner|putting a piece of writing through an article spinner|putting an article through an article spinner|submitting an article to a place with a tool that spins articles} {the|a} {person|worker|freelancer} {has to|must} {prepare one article|get one article ready|prepare a piece of writing|get an article ready|make one article look different}, making {it|the article|the piece of writing} spin ready.

The above spin ready piece of writing was manually created, but some article spinners help people create pieces of writing that look like this by providing places to fill in the alternative words or phrases.

Then they click a button and get the spin ready article displayed. They click another button and get a brand new article displayed, without the symbols. They click the button again and get another version. Each time the button is clicked, a new version of the one original article is displayed.

The tricky thing with article spinners, though, is that people have to be careful about which synonyms or different phrases they use when making an article spin ready. The word “looks,” for example, could also be “seems” (“It looks like it might rain,” or “It seems like it might rain,) but if saying, “He looks at the rain,” also saying “He seems at the rain” would be a bad spin result. After an article has been through an article spinner, a person would still have to check through each result manually to eliminate the possibility of bad spin results.

People who manually prepare articles to be spun have to be even more careful. Just one misplaced curly bracket or divider could damage the structure of an entire sentence.

When realising that it takes quite a bit of work to spin an article well, even with the help of an article spinner, article spinning doesn’t seem like such a wonderful idea. It’s also why there are not only so many poor quality articles on the Internet, but why there are so many similar articles on the Internet too.

People searching for information on the Internet want to find good quality articles.

It would seem that (or should that be it would look that) writers should stick to creating fresh and original articles, with good grammar.

The Benefits of Spinning an Article

There are some benefits as mentioned above to spin one of your own articles. But when I say spin one of your own articles, I mean to rewrite it yourself, not by using a piece of spinning software.

The hard part about spinning your older articles is that when you first wrote it, you took the time as a writer and wrote it the best you could. So it is rather hard to rewrite or spin an article you already took the time to write.

But if you approach your older article with a different focus, you can then change the article enough and add new or updated information, you can have a brand new article that can work on your website or other websites.

The Dangers of Spinning an Article

It is not recommended that you use mechanical article spinners, because they usually come out looking spun. Readers on the internet today are smart enough to realize when they see an artificially spun. Some of the words are out of place and just look very unprofessional, not to mention punctuation can also be a problem.

Once readers see these spun articles, they will most likely not read any of your other articles because they just won’t trust that you know what you are writing about. So this can not only hurt the current article, but all other articles written in your name.

A mechanically spun article will most likely not pass the duplication test by either Google. And duplicate articles can bring your search engine rankings down if you put this spun article on the same website.

If you intend to mechanically spin an article and put it on another website that requires no duplicate articles, Copyscape will most likely find it and the editors of the other website will most likely take your article down.

Never ever spin someone else’s article. This is plagiarism.

The Use of Formal and Extended Definition in Writing

When it comes in writing an exposition, it is very important that the readers knows what the writer or the author is talking about. In here, it shows the importance of the definition, it is the kind of exposition most naturally to begin with.

There are two main types of definition namely; the logical or formal definition and the extended or informal definition. The logical and the extended definition differ from their own way and purpose.

The logical or formal definition is considered as the dictionary definition. There are three essential parts of this definition namely the “term” or the word to be defined, the “genus” which limits the particular terms to a restricted class and the “differentiae” that states the characteristics which distinguish a defined species from the other members of each of the gems.

There are certain types of errors usually occur when constructing a logical definition. One is when the term being defined is included in the defining part; this could make the definition as circular one. Second is by giving a negative definition to a particular term, this should not be done unless some of its idea are considered as an essential to the term’s meanings. The third one is by giving a figurative definition to a particular term.

The extended or informal definition is done in an informal or in more flexible development means. There are reasons why extended or informal definitions are made by writers. One is that when the writer thinks or fells that the real definition of a particular term is distorted in the minds of the public, here extended definition is needed as replacement for the real defition. Another is that it is used in removing confusions as well as to make the context more precise. Extended definition is also use to set up an ideal meaning that is in contrast with the other meaning that merely reflects an existing fact.

There are four forms of extended definitions namely; the historical definition, the definition by elimination, the definition by example and illustration, and definition by enumerating the part of an object or the factors that produced a particular effects.

Giving a definition is an important thing to consider especially when writing an exposition. Before a writer or an author say about something, he or she must give emphasis with regards to the definition of that particular thing in order to guide the readers what the composition is all about.
